Frequently Asked Questions

For Visitors

How do I find a business or service?

Use the search bar on the homepage to search by name, category, or keyword. You can also browse by category (Retail, Food & Dining, Services, Community & Organizations) or filter by city using the "Search by Community" menu.

How do I filter results by city?

Linn County Life covers Blue Mound, Centerville, La Cygne, Linn Valley, Mound City, Parker, Pleasanton, and Prescott. Use the city links in the navigation or footer to see listings specific to your community.

How do I leave a review for a business?

Visit the business's listing page and click "Leave a Review." You'll need a free account to submit a review — this helps keep reviews genuine and tied to real community members.

How do I find upcoming community events?

Check out our Calendar page for festivals, fundraisers, school events, church activities, and more happening across Linn County.

I found incorrect information on a listing. How do I report it?

Every listing has a "Suggest an Edit" or "Report an Issue" link. If the business is unclaimed, the fastest fix is often for the actual owner to claim it and update the details themselves — but you're welcome to flag anything that looks wrong.

Is Linn County Life affiliated with any city or county government?

No. Linn County Life is an independently owned local directory created to help Linn County's small businesses and community organizations get more visibility. It is not operated by, or officially affiliated with, any city or county government office.

Frequently Asked Questions

For Business Owners / Organizational Leaders

Why is my business already listed if I never signed up?

Great question — and an important one. To help local businesses get found right away, we pre-populate listings using publicly available information from sources like Google Maps and Facebook. If you see your business listed, that's a good thing: it means you already have visibility. The listing will show as "Unclaimed" until you verify it's yours, which takes about two minutes and is completely free.

How do I claim my business listing?

Search for your business and look for the "Claim This Listing" button on the page. You'll create a free account, verify you're the owner, and then you can edit and manage the listing yourself.

What if my business isn't listed at all?

You can add it yourself! Click "Add a New Listing" in the main navigation, choose the appropriate category, and fill out your business details.

What's the difference between Free, Gold, and Premier?
  • Free Forever ($0/year): 1 photo, 1 category, basic description, listed alongside everyone else.
  • Gold ($9.99/month): 6 photos, 3 categories, richer description with formatting, up to 3 listings per account.
  • Premier ($24.99/month): Unlimited description, video and virtual tour support, and exclusive featured placement on category pages and the homepage — the best visibility available.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan later?

Yes, you can change your plan at any time from your account dashboard. Changes take effect based on your current billing cycle.

How many photos can I add, and what size should they be?

This depends on your plan tier — Free allows 1 photo, Gold allows 6, and Premier allows a much higher limit. We recommend clear, well-lit photos at least 1024×768px for the best appearance.

How do I submit a community event?

Visit the "Add Event" page from the navigation. Events are reviewed before publishing to keep the calendar focused on genuine community happenings/
